​The Board may request a teacher to provide consent for the Board to obtain a criminal history check on that teacher.

When the Board receives a notification or criminal history check, it will consider that information and any other relevant information and decide whether to:

• cancel the teacher's registration
• make an interim order
• formulate a complaint
• advise the teacher's employer (if applicable)
• publish the information if it is deemed to be in the public interest

The Board may also receive complaints made about teachers and formulate its own complaint based on that information or any other information it has received.

After undertaking assessment and investigations of the complaint, the Board may impose conditions, and must:

• reject or withdraw a complaint
• make an interim order
• refer complaints to a Disciplinary Committee, the Impairment Review Committee, the State Administrative Tribunal, or an appropriate person, organisation or agency.
