Teachers with Full Registration due for renewal, who wish to continue to teach, have the following options;
- make an application to renew your Full Registration on Teacher Login;
- If you are unable to meet the requirements to renew Full Registration, make an application for a Change of Category to Provisional registration on Teacher Login
Teachers must apply to renew or change category at least 28 days prior to the expiry of their registration, to ensure their registration continues until the assessment of their application is finalised.
Renewing your Full Registration
To ensure continuation of your Full Registration, teachers are required to renew their Full Registration every 5 years.
To renew Full Registration, teachers must meet professional learning and professional engagement requirements. There is currently a renewal fee payable for Full Registration.
Changing category of registration
Applying for a change of category can be done online, and there is currently a change of category fee, with the exception of changing category to Non-Practising Registration. For more information, please refer to the Schedule of Fees.

To be eligible for the grant of Provisional Registration (Returning Teacher) you must be a fit and proper person to be a registered teacher.
This category is eligible to teach.

This category can be held indefinitely and is NOT eligible to teach.

Taking a break from teaching
If you are taking a break from teaching but intend to return in the future, you may consider changing to Non-Practising Registration, however please note that from 19 December 2023, teachers holding Non-Practising Registration are not eligible to teach.
Non-Practising Registration can be held indefinitely, as long as you continue to be a fit and proper person to be registered, keep contact details up to date in Teacher Login, and continue to comply with all legal requirements for registration, which includes paying the teacher registration annual fee.
