Australia or New Zealand qualified
If you hold a teaching qualification completed in Australia or New Zealand the following may apply to you:
If your teaching qualification is listed on the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) website as an accredited Initial Teacher Education Program (ITE) then you will meet the qualification requirement for registration.
If you have completed this course within 5 years of making an application for teacher registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA), then you may meet the graduate level of the Western Australian Professional Standards and may apply for Provisional Registration (Graduate Teacher).
If your ITE qualification was accredited by the New Zealand Teachers Council and you make an application for teacher registration with the TRBWA within 5 years of completing this course, then you meet the graduate level of the Western Australian Professional Standards and subject to meeting the other application requirements you may apply for Provisional Registration (Graduate Teacher).
If you completed a teaching qualification from an accredited ITE program more than 5 years before you make an application for registration, you will be eligible for Provisional Registration (Returning Teacher).
If your teaching qualification is not listed on the AITSL website, then the TRBWA must complete a qualification equivalence assessment. You may be eligible for Provisional Registration (Returning Teacher). Information on the qualification requirements is listed in the Qualifications Policy.
